Business Academy Copenhagen North

Accommodation

How do I find accommodation?

The Academy will assist exchange students in finding accommodation. We have a residence hall on the campus. First priority is given to exchange students.

If there is no room available on the campus, the academy will assist you in finding another kind of accommodation.

You will be informed about the accommodation at the latest 2 weeks before your arrival.

Can I be sure to have a room when I arrive?

Normally yes.

If your room is not available the day you arrive, you must be prepared to find and pay for accommodation yourself in a youth hostel or the like (for the first days) - you will be informed in time.

You, as a student, are in charge of buying your own cleaning things, and of cleaning your room, your little hal and your bathrooms, as well as for cleaning after yourself in the kitchen.

If I leave my room in the middle of a month, do I then have to pay for the full month?

Yes – normally your Erasmus grant will be sufficient.

Will I be able to find a student job?

Students with energy and initiative always find a job. The job is not always relevant for your studies may be house-cleaning, serving in cafées, distributing newspapers etc.

According to the rules you are allowed to work in Denmark during your study period. You can work around 15 hours a week. However the precise number of hours and the procedure for getting a work permit depend on where you come from (non-EU-country, new EU-country or old EU-country).

Should I pay in Denmark with money from my home-bank-account or should I open a bank account in Denmark?

Often students prefer to open a bank account in Denmark. This is easy to do and does not cost anything. They prefer to open an account in Denmark because their homebank charge a fee each time they withdraw an amount. You can NOT open a bank account in Denmark until you have your Danish CPR number (registration number). You will also get more information about your CPR number after your arrival in Denmark.

Is it possible to prolong my stay to two semesters if I have only signed up for one semester?

If you want to stay for 2 semesters you will have to make a written enquiry in due time. Your lecturers will be contacted before permission is given.

Am I going to attend a study programme that is developed especially for ERASMUS students?

No – you will be considered as a “normal” student and participate under the same conditions as any other student. You will be studying in classes with Danish as well as foreign students.

Is it possible to compose my own study programme selecting lectures from different programmes?

No – all teaching is interdisciplinary and most exams are interdisciplinary too. This means that you have to attend all lectures in one specific programme that you have signed up for when applying.
