The Environment
The college has a set of values that gives the student the best possibilities to develop their potentials both academically and personally. There is an open and relaxed atmosphere which allows teachers and students to establish a close relationship.
All students are encouraged to participate in social activities such as sport games, parties, travel etc. The combination of studying and being socially active promotes the personal development of the student to make them more able to meet the demands of the outside world, whether they choose to study or to work in a company.
Teaching Methods
Classroom teaching, problem-oriented cases and projects based on a combination of theory and practice in various subjects are usually performed in groups. Information technology is integrated in almost all subjects. The students also make use of the college’ intranet where they communicate with their teachers. The college draws on the local businesses to make the education more relevant and realistic.
A. Higher commercial examination programme (hhx) (A level)
Entry requirements:
A school leaving certificate after the 9th or 10th grade.
3 study lines:
- International
International trade, international economy, language and economy, languages
- Economy
The company and its environment, economy and accounting, economy and IT
- Marketing
Market economy, export, market and media
Examinations
Are either oral, written or both. The Ministry of Education draws lots among the subjects. External examiners for written examinations and an internal and external examiner for oral examinations are required.
B. Vocational Education and Training (hg)
Entry requirements
A school leaving certificate after the 9th or 10th grade
Mature students with vocational experience are admitted. They normally get course concessions.
Basic education: 2 years
- Basic subjects: compulsory for all students
- Area subjects: compulsory – they support projects
- Elective subjects: a free choice
Practice period in a company for a shorter period of time.
Tests
Are either oral, written or both. The Ministry of Education draws lots among the subjects. Each year the student must pass an oral examination based on a written project. Internal and external examiners for both written and oral examinations are required.
Training in a company: 2 years
4 main business areas:
Administration, wholesale, retail and finance.
Final examination: The Professional test
Each student must make a project that deals with a problem in his/her company and which is defended at a final oral examination with an internal and external examiner.
